What we did for Thanksgiving vacation

So, here's what we did for Thanksgiving. My brother and his kids came down from Utah to spend the time with us. Besides having the traditional dinner together at our house, we went swimming at his hotel, rode motorcycles, took a trip to Pima to visit grandma and got some shooting in as well. It was such a fun time to be with everyone!! I love Thanksgiving! Thanks for coming, bro!

I'm thankful for

1. My wonderful husband. He is such a joy to me and our family. I love his fun loving ways and how caring he is. I have enjoyed watching him grow as a dad and love how much our kids adore him. Almost as much as I do!
2. My fabulous-o kids. They are the sparks that give me life and happiness. I always knew I would love being a mom, but I didn't know how great my kids would be. I hope they are always as valiant as they are now.
3. My home and the comforts therein. :) I have lots of fun decorating my house and even though it's not my "dream house", it does keep us comfy and we have so many great memories here in this house.
4. The computer and internet. It is like a door is always open to find out anything, communicate with anyone, and waste time like crazy. It's so much fun! :)
5. Hobbies. I love scrapbooking and making cards and taking pictures with my-
6. Camera. I'm not an expert yet or anything, but it's just fun to play and take good pictures!
7. My extended family. I love my family-both the one born into and the one inherited through my husband. They add joy and friendship and love to our lives. My mom is a great help to us, too.
8. Good friends. I have great best friends and I love our ward and the friends we have both from our current ward and friends we have made in other wards and other places.
9. The holidays. I didn't think I'd ever be ready to give up summer this year, but I SOOO AM! I am in such a Christmas-y mood now!! I can't wait to put lights up and crank those Christmas tunes!
10. Learning. I love learning-spiritual things, fun things, scholastic things. I am so grateful for the education I already have and for the opportunity to constantly learn more.

Well, that's my top thankful list at the moment. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Must be hormones...

I don't know what struck me this morning. We were saying morning prayers and it was Little Miss' turn. I tried to help remind her to say a couple of things and apparantly she didn't hear me correctly because I said, "Help Dr. Destructo to be happy" (he was being such a grouch the last couple of days!) and she said, "Help us to be cabela". Cabela?? Like the camp store or what?? Well for some reason this struck my funny bone and we decided that cabela must be another word for happy because that was her translation of what I had said to her. So I laughed and laughed so hard that I was crying and couldn't see the road to drive to school! I laughed the whole 8 min. drive to school. Now it doesn't seem so funny anymore. What came over me? I may never know, but I am blaming hormones. It was absolutely uncontrollable. I'm a woman, and I can blame anything I want on hormones, right? Now that is a thought that makes me very cabela.

Your WHAT hurts?!?!?

OK, so kids say the darndest things, right? Well, yesterday morning as we are getting up and starting breakfast, Little Miss yells out of the bathroom, "Mom!! My CRACK hurts!!" You could just feel the air freeze in the kitchen as everyone is trying to figure out if she just said what we think she said. I called back, "What?!?" You know, just to make sure that's what she said and sure enough she yells back, "My CRACK hurts!!" I couldn't hold it in--I started laughing and the girls just start making all kinds of comments. So, I guess in order to really clarify Blondie goes in there and asks her about her owie, and we all hear Little Miss explain that Yes, her CRACK is hurting, which is a scratch on her foot that looks like a CRACK. We just couldn't contain our hooting. It never ceases to amaze me what these little ones come up with!

I told her she probably shouldn't tell anyone else that her CRACK is hurting because they might misunderstand...

Happy Veterans Day

I just want to let my Grandpas and all Veterans know how much I appreciate them. I love patriotic holidays with all the parades and good old family fun. I always cry at the Veteran's Day parade. I feel like such a boob! But there you have it--I get so overwhelmed with gratitude for the sacrifices that were made on our country's behalf and it just spills out. So...thank you, THANK YOU for your work and sacrifice that has allowed me to live the way I want to and worship how I want to and for our freedom and the opportunity to be an AMERICAN!!! Woo!!!

A fun program

I spent 12 bucks today on a very fun new toy. It's a computer program that lets you put pictures you have taken of your house in and play with the paint colors. DH is very excited because usually I just paint the house and then decide if I like the color or not. (I have a hard time visualizing the colors in the space :) Right now I'm just playing with the sample rooms but I am excited to put our actual pictures in into it. Wish me luck!
